To do that, this Pittsburgh news feature was formed!

Every week we will post updates on business openings, expansions, coming soon teasers, and, unfortunately, closing announcements as well. When available, each piece of news will directly link to either the full news release from the brand or a longer article on our site.

The team behind Fig & Ash and Fat Cat are expanding their East Ohio Street dominance with the opening of Detuschtown Deli. Even better? Brothmonger will be making soups there, too!

The fast casual deli is located in the former Coop Chicken & Waffles location at the intersection with Cedar and is open Monday to Fridays from 10am to 3pm.

The popular burger and wings restaurant, Back to the Foodture, announced it was closing permanently a few weeks ago due to copyright lawsuits with Universal Studios. Now, the restaurant is seemingly re-opening its Uptown location with a slightly changed name, The Foodture. The South Side location is said to remain closed at this time.

A new bagel shop, Three Brothers Bagels, is opening on August 22nd at 1718 Mount Royal Blvd in Glenshaw, PA. The bakery is said to make hand rolled bagels using flour from Butler, PA. The store will be open Tuesday to Saturdays from 7am to 2pm.

Cinderlands Beer Co. has changed the concept of their Lawrenceville location, the Foederhouse, to become a sandwich and beer shop called Long Story Short. The new concept opened its doors on August 15th.

Two area breweries, Arboretum Trail Brewing Co in Pittsburgh's Larimer neighborhood and Mastic Trail Brewing in Glenshaw have announced they will both be closing shortly. Arboretum's last day has been announced as August 31st and Mastic Trail's last day is September 2nd. Arboretum is likely still planning to brew and will be focusing on distribution for the time being.

The flower show, Flowers Meet Fashion: Inspired by Billy Porter, has been extended at Phipps Conservatory for another time. This gorgeous flower show will now run at the conservatory through September 10th. Reservations are strongly recommended.

After a decent run as an Apres Ski themed bar in the winter, downtown restaurant Butcher and the Rye is back with a new pop-up bar concept focusing on tropical drinks with a tiki-like vibe. As of now, this one is open Friday and Saturday nights and does not accept reservations.

The North Side barbecue staple, Wilson's Bar-B-Q is re-opening after the 2019 fire destroyed their location in the Mexican War Streets. The new Wilson's will be located at 2615 Perrysville in Perry South. Grand opening weekend is August 11th and 12th from 12 to 7pm.

The popular restaurant, Galley at Bakery Square (sister restaurant to Federal Galley in the North Side) is no more. The owners of the building terminated their lease with the galley operators and are moving forward with new concepts under the new City Kitchen branding.

The team behind the popular restaurant, The Colombian Spot, have announced they are opening a new restaurant concepted called Stew – Wood Fire Fusion. At this time no further details have been provided on the menu, tentative opening date, and others, but it looks like this restaurant is likely going to be located in Oakland.

Have you ever wanted to enjoy a nice cold pint in one of our local parks? Well, during the Beers at the Bosque popup you can do just that. On August 4th and 5th and September 14th and 15th the Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy will be transforming the Bosque space at Schenley Park into a beer garden with 11th Hour Brewing Co!

Necromancer has teased a new speakeasy, named Necromancer's 86'd, coming soon. This one is a partnership with Goodlander Cocktails. The speakeasy is invite only and information will exclusively be sent via snail mail and text message monthly. At this time, other details are being kept secret!

The popular music-forward restaurant, Con Alma, is transitioning its Shadyside location to a special and private event space only. The restaurant's final public day of operation will be July 29th and the first private event will feature trumpeter John D'Earth on August 5th. Tickets are $20 with a two drink minimum required- no food service will be available. Con Alma Downtown Pittsburgh will still operate as a full-service restaurant.

The popular sandwich and wings restaurant, Back to the Foodture, known for monster sandwiches and unique flavor combinations, is closing on August 16th. In a statement released on Facebook, the restaurant said “we cannot fight Universal Studios any longer”, pointing to possible issues revolving around the branding/name.

After 4 1/2 years, the Strip District staple, Pittsburgh Winery, is finally moving back into their original location after a long renovation. The final event at the current location (2710 Penn) will be Sunday July 16th from 3:30 to 6PM and the first event at the new (original) location, 2809 Penn, will be Saturday July 22nd at 9PM. Sharpsburg's resident distillery, 4Four6, announced they will be closing permanently in the near future. A final date has not been announced.

The local re-use center, Construction Junction, announced that this year's Steel City Big Pour (their 16th) will be their last. The aptly named “The Last Pour” event will take place in Rockwell Park on October 7th from 5 to 8pm. Tickets go on sale July 17th at noon. Renowned local distillery, Liberty Pole Spirits, is expanding into a new location in Washington, PA, on 800 Adios Drive with a grand opening on July 15th. The original location in downtown Washington is now closed. More information and how to book tours for the grand opening can be found here.

The New Mexican taco food popup, Taqueria Acosta, announced that they have signed a lease to be a resident restaurant in The Distillery in South Side near Station Square. This facility is presently being renovated by Big Spring Spirits and is said to have seven different food concepts included when the space is finished.

The Allegheny Regional Asset District (RAD) announced that the Andy Warhol Museum, the Heinz History Center, and the Children's Museum of Pittsburgh will have free admission for the entire month of August to celebrate their award in the USA Today 10Best Reader's Choice competition. Guests are asked to book the free tickets online in advance as the museums are expected to be quite busy.

Local bakers Erika Bruce, Beth Taylor, and Chloe Newman (Crustworthy) announced they signed a lease for The Third Space located at 5349 Penn Avenue in the former Spork Pit BBQ in Garfield. The space will be worker-owned and a community-focused bakery selling baked goods and hosting pop-ups, events, cooking classes, and more.

Deutschtown's brewery, Allegheny City Brewing, is expanding. The brewery will be building a new custom facility on the lot of the current beer garden on East Ohio Street. Half of the lot will turn into an approximately 2,000-square-foot brewery space and the other half will remain an outdoor beer garden.

Allegheny City Brewing's original space on Foreland will remain to be the production facility. Construction is set to begin summer 2023. Stay up-to-date by following Allegheny City Brewing on Instagram.

Popular Bloomfield brewery, Trace Brewing, is opening its second location, named Trace Echo, at 23 Miltenberger Street in Uptown (the Bluff). The more intimate space will have indoor and outdoor space, bike lane access (coming soon), and be accessible via bus from downtown.

Ghost Coffee Collab is also going to be present at the location and will operate a full espresso bar on-site. The brewery expansion is anticipated to open in the fall 2023. Stay up-to-date by following Trace on Instagram.
